Chronic Renal Failure is the slow loss of kidney function over time. For most
people kidney failure occurs after years of having chronic kidney disease.
Chronic Renal Failure may cause various complications, which mainly lie in the
following aspects:
(1)Symptoms of Nervous SystemSymptoms of nervous system are the main symptoms of Uremia. During the early stage of Uremia, the symptoms may include dizziness, headache, weakness and decline of both comprehension and memory. As the disease progresses, there may appear some symptoms such as Dysphorien, muscle twitching and convulsions. At last, much severer symptoms may appear, such as apathetic facial expressions, drowsiness, coma etc.
(2)Gastrointestinal Symptoms
The earliest gastrointestinal symptom of Uremia patient is the loss of appetite or indigestion. As the disease progresses, there may appear anorexia, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
(3) Symptoms of Cardiovascular System
There may appear heart failure, arrhythmia, myocardial damage etc, due to Renal Hypertension, acidosis, hyperkalemia, retention of sodium and water, anemia and toxic substances and so on. Aseptic pericarditis and pain on precordial region may happen to the patients with Chronic Renal Failure due to the stimulation of urea or uric acid.
(4) Disorder of Metabolism
Sugar tolerance of patients declines. Negative nitrogen balance can lead to emaciation of the patients, cachexia and low albuminemia. Low albuminemia is one of the main reasons causing edema to kidneys.
(5) Skin Symptoms
Pruritus (skin itch) is the most common symptom, which may be caused by the stimulation of toxic products to sensor on the skin. Other symptoms include dry skin, desquamation with yellowish-brown color.
(6) Symptoms of Respiratory System
When with acidosis, patients breathe slow and deep. When with serious acidosis, there may appear Kussmaul, a particular state of acidosis. Gas exhaled has urine smell. Serious patients may suffer pathological changes like pulmonary edema, fibrinouspleurisy, pulmonary calcification etc.
