September 11 attacks and Renal Failure

The 10th anniversary of September 11 attacks is coming soon. The nightmare seems to recall to people’s mind again. On Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, terrorists hijacked four passengers’ jets and attacked New York and Washington. The hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and both towers collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The third plane was crashed into the Pentagon . Terrorists had planned to attack either the Capitol Building or the White House with the fourth plane, but passengers struggled to take control of the plane and finally it crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As a doctor specialized in kidney disease, I am afraid of the influence to patients with Renal Failure, who need stable mood and good rest.
Almost 3000 people were killed during the terror attacks. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries. It is a miserable thing to many people to recall the September 11 attacks, because they may experience the disaster or lose someone close to them. This is more torturous for patients with Renal Failure, as they bear the suffering of disease at the same time.
During the special days, we need to do something in honor of the victims and heroes of September 11attacks, but we shouldn’t allow too much sadness affects our health, especially for those who are suffering from Renal Failure. A large number of researches suggest that mental state plays a significant role in the recovery of patients with Renal Failure. The bad mood can influence treatment effect of Renal Failure to a great degree. Depressed mood, nervousness or agitation can directly affect the blood pressure and then add extra burden to kidneys, thus leading to aggravation of Renal Failure.
Renal Failure is a kind of chronic kidney disease, which needs a long-term and persistent treatment. Patients should try to adjust emotions in any circumstances. September 11 is the most serious terror attacks so far in human history, but many people survive from it and live a normal and happy life. Considering that, patients with Renal Failure should have the confidence to overcome the disease and never give up.
Although in most cases Renal Failure can’t be cured for the present, but it can be well controlled under proper and timely treatment. Therefore, an optimistic and positive attitude is needed for all the Renal Failure sufferers. It is worth to teat the disease, even just one more day to live.
