Recently a patient with blood creatinine 300 asked me for some advice for
him. So I would like to share with my opinions with you all on this issue.
Blood creatinine is one of the main indicators for inspecting the health of
our kidneys and its functions,. The elevated serum creatinine level often
indicates the damages of renal function, and furthermore, different creatinine
values represent the different degree of kidney damages.
If we assume the entire whole kidney function is 100% in its healthy state,
then the Kidney Compensation Stage refers the GFR is the 35-70% of the normal
kidney function, at this time, the level of creatinine is 133-177umol/l.
Although now the kidney function show reduction, however, the remaining renal
function can still be able to sustain the body's internal environment.
At the time of Kidney's Decompensation Stage, the GFR has reduced to the
21-35% of the normal level. The creatinine level at this stage is about
177-442umol/l. At this stage, the kidneys' ability to sustain the internal
environment has some degree decline. The renal function now has slight harms
with presentations as frequent urination or night urination or together with the
light anemia. But in clinical, there may be asymptomatic.
Next stage is the Renal Failure stage. Now the creatinine level is over
400ml/l and the GFR has reduced to the 11-20% of the normal level. And the
creatinine value at this stage is 442-707umol/l. This stage is more serious than
the last stage. And various symptoms may appear.
The last stage is the ESRD stage. Creatinine level sta this stage is often
over 707umol/l and GFR reduces to below the 10% of the normal state. This stage
may have a lot of complications involving in body's other organs or systems.
Returning back, blood creatinine level of 300 belongs to the stage of
kidney's Decompensation stage, the kidneys are greatly damaged. So what the
patient should do now is to preserve the remaining function and also repair the
damaged kidney functions. Here Immunotherapy is suggested to you for your
